Open Your Mouth, People

To Each Thier Own...

Thursday, March 30
I remember a while ago when somebody wanted to open a place in Box Elder that was going to have naked women. The townsfolk cried fowl because the elementary school was close by and they didn't think it was appropriate to have that type of activity happening so close to where children might be. Not only that... but some people were "Offended" by what was going to transpire at this " Den 'O Sin".

Now I can understand the first reason above for the city to deny the opening of this establishment. Sure, we need to protect the young from the filth that so many of us adults like so much. But the second reason... Offended? I didn't see the argument in a person being "offended". How would the naked body offend somebody? Everytime you take a shower you stand naked before you jump in... Offended?

The only type of "Offended" I can understatnd is that when you ridicule another person such in a way that they have no control over, ie: color of skin, name sake, physical attribute. I don't believe you can offend somebody over an act of some sort, meaning that if you were to get drunk, have sex and agree to have somebody tape the act. For the most part that would be called shame or embarassment. It would be offending to me if I had to see your hail damaged ass in a video having sex. Big difference.

The video moniker can't be describe as offending. What I'm writing here now really and truly can't be offending. You are given a choice whether or not you want to continue reading on. The fact that you have made it this far into this post tells me that you are interested in what I'm writing. If I wrote a short story about a priest and his undying love for a sheep along with the unspeakable acts that poor farm animal endures.... maybe offensive... most likely funny but a bad taste sort of funny.

Let's talk "Free Will". "Free Will" is a thingy that us higher up mammals have. Believe it or not. For those of you that have a problem with the definition of "Free Will", let me continue to indulge. Free Will is the power of making free choices that are unconstrained by external circumstances or by an agency such as fate or divine will. Simple enough. Some folks just can't understand that. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't make them less of people for it but it can be looked upon as weak and misguided.

All people do have "Free Will" when it come to the things they do and think are just. Take buying an automobile. Ford or Chevy? Toyota or Nissan? You have the choice on whether you want any of those vehicles correct? Sure you do. BUT.... let's say that I think that Americans not buying American manufactured automobiles is offensive... You would say to me... "If you don't like foreign then don't buy foreign." You know why you would tell me that. Because it's none of my fucking business to tell you what you can and can't do.

Okay... let's combine those two sayings together and discuss. "Offended" and "Free Will". Most South Dakotans were offended that Commissar Rounds took the free will away from women regarding the usage of thier private uteruses, myself included. Now that was something we had no control over and could be said that it is a bad example. Try this, you pick up a writing, look it over, read it and come to the conclusion that it offended you for what ever reason. You had free will to stop reading but continued to come to your ultimate conclusion of "offensive". Is it the fault of the writer or the reader? In this country we call "the land of the free" well it's YOUR fault. You wouldn't read "Mein Kampf" in it's entirety to know that it's going to be offensive to you... would you?

So in conclusion, The land we live in is a democracy, not a theocracy, not a socialistic or communistitic style of government. Some agree that we are no longer a democracy but more of a socialistic style government. But until that term is written in stone, I believe we have free will to do the things we choose to do.

That's Not What They Said...

Dealing with large companies when it come to support is just a never ending track through a river of shit. For instance, yesterday while I was getting a tire fixed in Sturgis I tried to make a call on my mobile phone. I dialed the number but got a Verizon message, I'm with Altell. I think to myself, "What the fu...." I notice the little triangle blinking in the top of the screen. "Shit..." I call Marnie to tell her that I am getting the "roaming triangle" on my display. We decided to deal with it when I returned home.

She calls Alltel and gets a pleasant person and tells her of our dilemma. The lady says that as long as the triangle is blinking... we shouldn't get charged. Okay a possible disaster avoided. I tell Marnie that the little triangle is still blinking on the display of my phone. She calls the idiots at Alltel again. This time the lady on the line is a fucking bitch and tells us that we will be charged for any roaming from my phone. This instantly pissed Marnie off, which I don't blame her. Trying to get a technical support person of the phone from Alltel is like jamming a jar of mayonaise through a keyhole.

While Marnie headed to Colorado last weekend she changed our plan to a Nation wide roaming. They told her she had to put a code in the phone to change it. I didn't do it because I wasn't with her when she changed hers. Tell me this... if she was able to change hers right away why didn't the little triangle come on my phone over the weekend instead of yesterday, 5 days after she changed our plan?

I'll tell you why... because large companies do this to fuck over the little guys. Any possible way to rape our asses to get more money outta us. I'm ready to say FUCK YOU ALLTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Train Wreck To The Right....

Sunday, March 26
Lately, when you read the news, you have see the jokers from the Westboro Baptist Church picketing soldiers funerals. When I see them, I feel a rage inside screaming... How can these people do this to a person they didn't know? Why are they saying that it's great that this person was killed? I don't say that they should not be allowed to do it.

Granted, the first time I read about them I was saying they should be silenced. Thrown away so people can never hear thier rectoric ever again. After careful consideration and thought, Let them picket, let them scream at the top of thier lungs what they say. Because if they are silenced, we can be silenced. The First Amendment doesn't cover who we choose it should cover. It covers everybody no matter how outragious they message. That is what it was set up for.

Take Winston Churchhill. He compared the victims of the World Trade Center disaster with the likes of Hitler. The people were outraged he would say things about the innocent people killed. People were calling for his termination from his job. Why? Because they didn't like his opinion. I didn't like it but it was his personal opinion. The University he works at wasn't mentioned in the opinion but some of the higher ups at the University wanted him shit canned. Just because he works there doesn't mean he can't express himself. The University has no grounds to fire him because they know it's most likely illegal. Freedom of Speech. Nobody was physically hurt by his words so it wasn't illegal.

I speak my mind especially on subjects that I know will inscense people because of thier religious convictions or a personal view. I try to make people think before they speak up again. If I know you have no idea what you are talking about, I'll call you on it. I'll piss you off arguing about my point of view. I do it because it's guarenteed by the First Amemdment and no court, government entity, private industry or person in the country can force me to stop. There are provisions to that. I can't say anything false about somebody which isn't true, that's Libel. That's why I say "In my opinion..." whenever I begin to rant.

Look at Larry Flint. Flynt is the publisher of the porn magazine Hustler. Anybody who has looked at Hustler knows how bad it can be. Larry took his fight all the way to the Supreme Court because Rev. Jerry Fallwell didn't like what Flynt published about him. The court ruled in favor of Larry Flynt based on the Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression clause to the First Amendment. This opened the door for others to follow in Flynts footsteps when it came to writing about public figures.

So in essense... if you don't like what you see... don't look at it a second time. If you don't like what I say, don't read or listen to me. The next time you see an accident on the road don't look because you may cause a second accident which will be YOUR fault.

Interesting........

Saturday, March 25
First of all, I believe the person I am defending in this post deserved a longer sentence than the 15 years she received.

Dawn L. Around Him, 22, of Kyle admitted to driving the van that struck and killed Andrew Crocker, 38, in September. Around Him struck Crocker from behind. He flew 84 feet and died at the scene. She also had a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit. Enough said, she plead guilty and will pay a small price in the death of, what people say, was a great and admired teacher.

On the other hand, Bill Janklow, former Governor and at the time, U.S. Representitive to the House for South Dakota, runs a stop sign hits Randy Scott, who was riding a motorcycle. Scott flies 135 feet and lands in a ditch instantly dies on scene. Janklow, who claimed his blood sugar was low at the time of the accident, pleads not guilty then is later convicted of the same crime as Around Him but only serves 100 days in prison. Janklow has his law license suspended and gets it reinstated last month.

Okay....society says that alcohol abuse is a disease... Diabetes is a disease. Responsible people don't drink and drive. Responsible people take thier insulin when needed. Hmmm... Interesting....

The human mind, an amazing piece of machinery. To remember a sound, a smell to remind us of an earlier time. They say 10 years old is the greatest age of your life because you are big enough to actually do things without the help of an adult. I'd agree with that, there was nothing that couldn't be done when I was 10. That would have been 1977. That year we took a trip to California to go to Disneyland. I remember most of it. I was asked to play in the Majors in Little League. I was one of the youngest to do so at the time. The outdoor swimming pool, a thing that has gone by the wayside here. The swimming pool was filled in 20 years ago and converted into the maintenance shop.

I mentioned smells before. The other day while getting groceries I caught the scent of an older ladies perfume that smelled just like my grandmothers. The frozen vegetable section smelled like the commissary in Bremerton, Washington. Any slow BeeGee's song reminds me of Ellsworth Air Force Base here in South Dakota. The BeeGee's???

Just thinking back to the days I was young.. Wow..

Hoka Hey!!!

Thursday, March 23
With the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally turning into a festival of alcoholic related debauchery, The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana bought land to the west of Bear Butte, the center piece to thier religion.

I know the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally isn't a family attraction but some thought has to go into the selling and who's buying land in and around Sturgis. Main Street is all but vacant 11 months of the year, one would think that the leaders in this community would grasp the importance of where the town is headed.

I grew up in Sturgis and have seen the town, which was perfect small town, turn into a out of state owned nothing. Now more out of state people are buying land outside of town to build bars and concert venues. One in particular is a very large bar being built near Bear Butte. Bear Butte is the center of the Northern Cheyenne religion. It's thier church. Would you want a titty bar built next to your place of worship? Next to a pre-school? I wouldn't think so. So kudos to the tribe in which I am enrolled as a member.

The Drivers Extraordinaires...

Tuesday, March 21
To drive an auto mobile down the road at 75 mph, if you think about it, is something of a dangerous practice. In one second you have traveled 20 feet. The reactions of amatuer drivers isn't too good. Think about that the next time you are cruising down the highway. We here in Western South Dakota do not have any highways with more than 3 lanes and that third lane is actually an on off ramp that connects.

In my short travels to and from Rapid City for work. I see many drivers. Some old some young most are dumb. At 5pm, the race towards the north is on. My drive time is a mere 25 minutes. In that 25 minutes, I see many styles of driving from people.

For example... The asshole who drives in the passing lane 5 miles slower than the posted speed limit. One of the biggest pet peeves of mine. This type of driver should be beaten within an inche of thier lives. Passing lane MEANS passing another slower vehicle in the right lane. Fuck I hate those bastards!!!!

Another style is the prick who is driving 5 miles an hour slower in the correct lane, but speeds up to 95 just as you go to pass. No offense ladies... but most of the people who do this here are women yacking on the goddamn phone.

Yet another... The driver in front of you who slows to let merging traffic onto the interstate. Hey asshole... They have the fucking YIELD sign on thier on ramp. Yield is not in the definitions of driving in western South Dakota, just to warn you.

To make your Western South Dakota road rage experience complete if you visit... Make sure you listen to any music by Pantera, Anthrax and, or not limited to, anything with Henry Rollins/Black Flag on it. Anything with a beat slower than those types bands ruins the rage.

Assholes Of The Week...

Monday, March 20
Okay.. I know it's suppose to be "Idiot" instead of "Asshole" but I'm changing it okay???

My "Asshole of the Week" is pleural this week. There are two of them. Bob Newland of Hermosa and Bill Napoli of Rapid City.

Newland is a fellow from the sticks. Hermosa sits about 17 miles south of Rapid City. Newland has been trying to get "Mary Jane" legalized for medicinal use here in the Great Sociallistic State of South Dakota for years. I'm figuring that he will start suffering from glaucoma as soon as that feeble lame assed attempt to get that legalized. He is also a hound at writing his opinion to the paper. He also is a would be candidate for every political office in the State of South Dakota. He can't get elected because of his kooky causes and out spoken behavior towards those who oppose him. I like Bob Newland for his attempts to do what he does. He a fucking rebel and he isn't afraid to let someone know it. The reason I have put him on this prestigious list is because of his latest fiasco with a certain piece of legislation.. one that would be to hard to explain and you would probably lose interest and click away.

Asshole #2. A fitting title seeing that you #2 with your asshole. Rep. Bill Napoli. He is a state representitive for the right winged morons in Rapid City. Mr. Napoli recently has stated that rape was a "simple" crime and that since it's simple and you get pregnant... Too fucking bad!!! You'll have to live with some scumbags offspring for 18 years blah, blah, blah.. The constituents of this guy should be proud!!!

I decided to make these two upstanding (okay partially upright walking) dudes my "Assholes of the Week" together because of the fact that they had state law enforment (DCI - Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota take on the FBI except the FBI solves crimes) working privately for each other on separate issues. Newland had them investigating a person in Sioux Falls that offended (Newland) because of an opinion of a piece of state legislation. Napoli had the same organisation investigating Newland for some off color remarks Newland made on the RapidCityJournal.com's blog site about Napoli's heritage and the torching of the imaginary grocery store Napoli imaginarily owns. These two jokers are tying up law enforcement because they are acting like a couple of 6 year olds. Over a couple of fucking opinions. Grow up assholes and act like adults. We deserve better!!! And DCI??? What the hell are you doing working for these jamokes. They will ruin your (sic) credibility...

Dreams...

Sunday, March 19
Dreams are weird in a sense that you remember some and you don't the others. Most dreams I have I can't rememeber them. Only a few stick in my memory. The dreams that usually stick have to deal with getting the shit scared outta me.

I've never had a problem with tornadoes. One never got close enough to do any damage to a home or I haven't had any close calls. But those are the dreams I usually remember. Take a couple of nights ago, I had one of those tornado dreams. I must have seen the news on all those tornados in the south and it stuck. I also watched a program on the National Geographic Channel about what would happen if a tornado hit a city. Maybe that had something to do with it.

I am fascinated with severe weather, I have always been. I have always wanted to take a spring off and go chase tornadoes. I know what your'e thinking... Eric... what a fucking nerd! Nerd or not, I would think that was the coolest. Some people jump outta plane for excitement so fuck ya...

In this dream, there was a small storm cellar off of my house and I couldn't get into it. I struggled to get my fat ass into the door but couldn't. Everybody else fit but poor me. Needless to say, I didn't get killed from this rogue tornado. but it scared the fuck outta me. I awoke in a sweat and disoriented. I usually don't wake from a nightmare but this one felt real for some reason.

While visiting reletives in Montana, I saw a tornado form dip in and out of clouds but never touched the ground. I've seen a couple north of Rapid.

Dreams are funny.

My daughter was given a computer from Marnies parents. It's an older Dell that they don't use anymore. We got a wireless router and now she gets the internet in her room. The wireless router has a range of 400 ft. Now if you have the right hardware, you could get free internet off of my account if you lived near me.

Well more later...

P.S. Where did everybody go???

Eric

It's Saturday..night...

Saturday, March 18
After three days of non-access to my post here, it got really frustrating. There still are some quirks to getting here but at least I can type something.

The last couple of days were very uneventful. The threat of a snow storm looms tonight as it has yet to start snowing. Let's talk about Meteorologists. A meteorologist is a person whom forcasts weather. Forcasts another word for guess.. I guess. I live one block away from the longest interstate highway in the United States. I can forecast that a car will come by in the next half an hour. That's how much I believe in weather forecasting. All the other technical stuff such as low pressure.. high pressure and radar is not a part of the human aspect of the weather. You have to look at computers to figure that out. Something I am doing right now, looking at a computer. Forcasting is guessing and a person actually gets paid big money to do that. We should hold these people accountable for a forcast that is inaccurate. Maybe they will get it right most of the time instead of some of the time.

Eric

Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I can get back on this site after two days of hell... I'm back. I don't know what the hell happened. I just about started another site... technology is a bastard sometime.

I'll have something to say later... sorry about the delay.

You rest your mind
Flying to the home that you knew
You made you past
Trying to get home in as few but

All the time
Your mind is just aching for
All the time
You can't stop but faking it
All the time
Your mind is just breaking your heart
You rest you heartOh, listen to me

You can be 'bout, anywhere
You can take you mind anyplace because
Your mind's open, the rest is up to you
You can dream 'bout any dream
You can take safaris right up into the sky's open,
the rest is up to you

You can do it
You can dream it all
Sing it in your heart
Don't have to be lonely
You can do it
You can feel it all
Breakin' in your heart
Don't have to be lonely
You can do it
You can leave it all
Make another start

You can be 'bout, anywhere
You can take you mind anyplace because
Your mind's open, the rest is up to you
You can dream 'bout any dream
You can take safaris right up into the sky's open,
the rest is up to you

Might wind up just anywhere
Might wind up just anywhere
Might wind up just anywhere

It's Me...

Monday, March 13
I tend to read a lot and try to keep up on the things others do that have possible consequences to my family and myself. I am strong minded in my political view.. I always have been. I take the good guy factor out of every politician. Winning my vote requires that you are concise with your argument and you follow through with what you promise. I can still be friends with a person I strongly disagree with about a personal view.

I work with a younger guy who is a stanch Republican and is not afraid to say it. His personal views are what he bases his way of life on and religion is a large part of his life. I see nothing wrong with that... more power to him and I believe he will lead a better life for it. We discuss but never argue about the wails and woes of our country and the religious rights place in government. He sees that the country is better off with a Christian value attached to it across the board where I see that Christianity should be left to the individual and have no factor in non Christians lives and the government that serves them. I believe with all my being that Theocracy's are a cancer in government. They are closer to Communism than any other form of government. Replacing one form of totalitarianism style of government with another sprinkled with the sugar coating of Jesus Christ is wrong. A religious belief of one group to control anothers is bad. The Catholic Church has it's laws and the United States has it's own. Don't mix the two together.

I research my arguments before I say anything on the subject. To not do so is just dumb. It opens the door to be rebutted and you are made to look like an idiot. I was never on the Debate team in school. But when it affects my way of life I will scream at the top of my lungs to fight the fight.

This new fight the Governor has started with the women of this state is a slap to the face of all females. The Governor is saying that women can't be trusted to make the vital decision regarding thier own bodies. I stand by the women in this state to say that no government entity in a free society has any right to mess with our being no matter what the secondary argument is. Abortion is the secondary situation in this mess. Nobody is telling it that way. If we choose to have the politicians regulate what we can and cant do to our bodies they will have to change the slogan in this state to "Under God, The Personal Belief of the Head of State Rules". This state has become too extreme to be considered a democratic state.

The politicians I will always mock regardless of the good they have done for anybody is because they deserve it. A person wrote to the Rapid City Journal opinion page a couple of weeks ago quoting a verse from the Bible to make his point. His whole point was about respect. He wrote that we need to respect Your parents (which I agree with to a point, but ask that to a kid who's mom is a meth addict and has the dirtbag boyfriend who beats and molests them while the mother sit by idle.), Doctors ( There are a few physicians I respect and a lot more I don't), Police and Firefighters (Respect the law before you respect the enforcers.. Admire the man willing to risk his life for others), Politicians ( This one I had to laugh about. Politicians don't deserve respect until they are no longer politicians. That's when the accolades come.. and they are usually from other politicians) Your employers (Again.. I had a problem with this one. I respect the director to my department because she has earned it with me, the Unit assistant I respect for all that she does and usually receives no credit. We have a new manager and over time when deserved I will respect him. But respect a business for being a business I don't think so). Respect is earned not a given.

I am vocal when I write. the people who know me and know how I speak can usually hear me when they read what I write. They know the nuances of my voice, they know the phasing of my words when I speak and when I'm being sacastic. That's the beauty of the written word. I try not to leave what I say open to interpretation. What I say is what I say. Anyways...

Eric

Idiot of the Week...

This week's "Idiot of the Week" is Tom Daschle.

Tom thinks he has a viable chance at winning the presidency. What I see in this guy is he may be able to shuck and jive the people in South Dakota into believing he is a innovator and a trendsetter but the people of the United States... that's another subject. When he was a Senator, he went out of his way to tie up the lifeless flow of government to grandstand his way into the media.

After his rise to power, he divorced his long time wife for a newer model. His wife is currently a lobbyist for the airline industry in Omaha, Nebraska. Great!!!

Mr. Daschle needs to look at the history of Middle American Democratic politicians who ran for president and take a hard look. Mr. McGovern couldn't carry South Dakota when he ran against Nixon, why does Daschle think he can win now? Pure brash... Sir... stay at home and travel the lecture series because the people of this country are alot wiser than the good ol boys in South Dakota.

What????

Saturday, March 11
Since I started doing this, I figured it would be a great way to say what was on my mind and I could say this shit I wanted about anything. I chose not to say anything about work or the people I work with. Former co-workers are fair game though.

Lately, subject matter is hard to come up with because most of the shit that happens to me happens at work. I talked about my recent alcoholic binger, South Dakota politics and my feeling on cute brat contests.

After awhile, reading the comments left by people, I started to try and come up with subjects that may get comments. That was something, in the beginning that wasn't important... it still isn't but to hear what people have to say about what you write is more interesting than anything. I have a tracking device attached to this blog. I can click on it to see who's visited. I appreciate them stopping by to read what crazy shit the fat kid from South Dakota is saying.

I'm informed about local politics. The trouble with writing about things happening in my states government, most people outside of this state could give a shit about it. Take the recent abortion ban. If, and that's a big if, South Dakota started a small snowball rolling and other states think that they may have a shot at this... it will effect alot of people...especially women. But the problem with people in my state... they will vote for the same people who write legislations that these people hate. Voters in my state are the dumbest people on the planet.

I am a music lover... for those of you who didn't know that. I am a musician of sorts. Have played in several garage bands in my youth and still play the guitar when it suits me. I could talk about music here... But after awhile that too would wear thin and I would stop.

I take the US constitution for what's it's worth. Which to me... The Bill of Rights is the reason we live in this country. I support the porn industries right to do what they do. Because.. if they are told they can't express that right to do what they do well then others will trounce on a right that everybody thinks is right. The Religious Extreme Christian Right is a dangerous entity in this country. These people are brainwashed into thinking that Jesus is the answer to our here and now (ie: non spiritual woes). They believe that if you don't follow the ways of the Bible you'll be spurned into living a life in eternal hell AFTER you die. Wouldn't you think that if the All Mighty would have a thing to say about how you are living your life, he would fuck with your credit rating or get you fired from your well paying job?

I love to talk about religion and how stupid the people who think they know it.. truly don't. In our local media rag, The Journal, they are alway writing to the opinion page giving us thier personal interpretation on the verses of the Bible that they think fit thier argument. As I have said before... Spirituality is good, Religious is bad.

In closing here... People stop by this site and lurk. That's alright... But if you have a qualm about the shit... and I know it's shit, say something about it. You might change my opinion about something or enlighten me to something. I'll talk to you later...

Eric

Is It Really Cute????

Thursday, March 9
Thinking today about those stupid "Cute Kid Contests" They have them at Wal Mart every so often. If you gander thru the contestants... Holy Fuck there are a lot of ugly kids out there. What's cute to some new mother isn't cute to anybody else.. Especially if mom and dad look like inbred hillbilly's.

This got me thinking about the contest itself. What a rigged piece of crap. You know grandpa with the retirement, Social Security, and pension checks is going to load that jar up so that pitiful looking ass faced kid will possibly win. And what do they win???? The money in the fucking jar that has all of grandma and grandpa's money in it and a portrait of the little bastard. Great, a gigantic picture of a homely little tike.

Now when my daughter was little... of course I thought she was cute. And the consensus among my family members was that she was. We never entered her into those fucking little contests because we knew that she was beautiful to us and the other little kids were butt ugly. Maybe I'm biased... Fuck yeah I'm biased.

The next time you see those little Cute Kid Contests... Drop a bunch of slugs into those jars and maybe they'll get the hint that little Jr. just isn't that cute...

Nay Sayers Beware...

Wednesday, March 8
After reading the plight of a fellow "Post Master", the thought of somebody harassing me via this site really never crossed my mind. In her case, the pig fucker lives in the same village as her. I take threats with a grain of salt. I can defend myself quite efficiently and I am not afraid of very many people.

But in her case, it's her speaking her mind and probably has nothing to do with this megalomaniac. People who do this are the types of people when confronted with a much bigger, stronger person usually cower and piss themselves. These types of people cohort with a much younger group who think that "Since he is older, he's a force to be reckoned with." To impress children... dress up like a clown and bingo.

To Inky.... Don't let the fuckers get you down, because there is always somebody bigger and stronger to help you out in a situation. The words you write are not condemning to anybody. The words you write are the same as the thoughts in your head. I hope you continue writing what you think.

Eric

More Political Banter...

Trying to think of something to write today I started thinking about the nuclear problems the sane world is having with the not so sane world. The world, or most who have access to the media, knows who has nuclear weapons. The big ones, of course are the United States, Russia, Isreal, France, China etc, etc... . Now North Korea and Iran are in the process of enriching it's own nuclear material for high yield weapons.

The media, in it's ever so wisdom, plays the, scare the shit out of the public, game by reporting on it. They make it sound as if these countries are going to blow up the United States and Isreal. I don't think so. These second world nations peobably have the capability to made weapons grade plutonium, but lack the vehicle to send that weapon very far. With the exception of Isreal, the United States shouldn't really wory about it.

The situation that I begin thinking about is, say Iran does detonate a atomic weapon in Isreal, you know damn well that Iran will be the largest radioactive litterbox on this planet. Isreal doesn't fuck around when it is attacked. Okay... say this scenario happens and Isreal detonates 10 short range nuclear missiles on Iran, because they have every right to do so. Where does that leave the United States in that mess.

After the Cold War, the United States said that missiles in the few silos we have were not programmed to launch toward the former Soviet State. Which I say "Yeah Right". Are these missile programmed to launch against North Korea, Iran and those countries? Let's hope so.

I believe that these countries don't have enough material to match the arsenal of the United States and Isreal. So why would these rogue nation believe that a nuclear conflict be the salvation to thier woes?

This is the kind of shit that goes through my mind sometimes....

Eric

We Always Say It....

Remember the last time you went out and got shitfaced. I mean piss drunk. I did last Saturday night. I drank bottled beer for awhile then, being the dumbass I am, began drinking from the keg of Heinekan. Now anybody who drinks knows, you don't drink keg beer... well I don't drink tap or keg beer. Keg beer = massive, major hangover. I won't puke the night I was drinking that comes later the next day.

I had a small headache on Sunday... I woke at about 12:30 and laid around in bed all day. The reason for this wasn't because I was hanging hard. I twisted my ankle while walking from my car to my house door. It still smarts to walk on it but I figure I have to work tomorrow and I do a lot of walking at work, the more walking the better.

Anyways... I say it every fucking morning after a rip roaring drunk. "That is the last time I'm drinking" I didn't follow any personal instruction before going to bed Sunday morning. I usually down 2 Exedrins and drink two big glasses of water, if I don't eat which I didn't. The last time I went out we went to Denny's, after the bar, and I ate pancakes. I woke up the next day feeling pretty good. Not this last Sunday, Like I said, tiny headache big upset stomach. I puked at about 4:30.

I feel no effects to last Saturday now except for my ineptness to walk without injuring myself. This happens when no alcohol is involved also. I have always been clumsey as hell. Well Saturday night will not be my last night of drinking but.. I will remember to follow my little pre-bedtime while drunk directions much better next time.

The Real "Idiot Of The Week" Mike Rounds...

As of last night my first "idiot of the week" was Roger Hunt of Brandon, South Dakota. Well today that changed. Governor Mike Rounds signed the abortion ban bill into law today effective July 1st. If a Doctor preforms an abortion after July 1st can be prosecuted and sentenced up to 5 years in prison.

Here is the Real "Idiot Of The Week" Governor Mike Rounds

Now most of my friends will say that I am a left winged liberal for stating my opposition to this bill. I still think abortion is a bad thing and should only be used in certain circumstances. It's the principal to this whole debauchle. You don't fuck around with the constitution to support a personal belief. I believe that this bills birth had help from higher ups in the church system, mainly the bishop of Sioux Falls. Governor Rounds has taken advice from the bishop before concerning Planned Parenthood.

The people in this state who support this new law haven't the sense to know how dangerous a presidence this is. What next... a banning of a religion, your right to choose anything.

This law will ultimately be overturned by the Supreme Court. There is just too much at stake for them not to intervene in this outrage.

And He Twists His Ankle....

Sunday, March 5
After getting home last night, I got outta the car to walk into my house and stepped into a slight low spot in my driveway twisting the fuck outta my ankle. I didn't hear a pop or feel a tear but is hurts like hell. It is swollen but that has receded since the morning. Hobbling around, taking a piss is an endevour.

I'm starting a new segment to this blog tomorrow and will ahppen every Monday. I call it "Idiot of the Week". Some people you'll know, others you won't. It should be fun.

Well... I going to hobble to the laundry room and wash a load of clothes. I hope my ankle is better by Tuesday when I return to work.

The Idiots Who Rule...

Again I am going to talk about the legislators we have ruling our little state. Back wood? yes. Egomaniacs? yes. Socialistic? oh yeah...

I wonder why these folks spout that religion is the sole reason behind the methods. It's fine that you worship whom ever you want...unless it is something that doesn't match the criteria of Christianity. These people think they are talking sense but don't take the time to actually read what they say. It sounds ridiculous. South Dakota will always be two steps behind everybody when it comes to their thinking. These lawmakers are older and were brought up on the bunk of the 1950's. Sweep it under the carpet unless somebody sees us do it then we will come up with an explanation for it in an self interpretation of the Bible.

I believe the rights of the people rule over the rights of the church. This is the way it has to be. Theocracy is BAD. Look at the Middle East for fuck's sake. Those people believe in the same prophet but still war against each other because of the religious belief of their clan. The radical right aims to take away others beliefs because it doesn't coincide with theirs. South Dakota has those people who want to take away a woman's right to choose. I hope this issue come up in the next election so the old farts who think they are ultimately right have time to think about their wrongs while they no longer serve the greater good of the people of this state.

The Cost Of Living...

Friday, March 3
I just read the post of Cissa Fireheart's blog. Her daughter is loosing her first baby tooth and she was unsure how much the tooth fairy would be leaving. I relpied that I lost my first tooth at five, which was 1972. The cost of living in 1972 wasn't all that bad, compared to todays standards.

Gas prices were 30 cents, a new family car would cost you under $3,000.00 and a modest two bedroom house would have cost you $28,000. I got a 50 cent piece. At the rate of inflation it would be well over $4.00 now.

Back then I'm sure our parents would be flipping out at the cost of fuel and other stuff too. $19,000 for a family car??? $150,000 for a modest home.

When my daughter lost her first tooth the tooth dude (not fairy) gave her 50 cents and hoped to God that she didn't corelate that "teeth = $$$$" If I would have known.. I would have hammered the godamned things outta my skull.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T....

Wednesday, March 1
After I wrote the last post, I went and read the opinions for today in our major media paper. There was one letter to the editor that struck a chord, a flat chord, with me. It had to deal with respect. The writer used the Bible to make his fucking point. The Bible, I have something to say about that but that will wait for a later post.

He claimed that we should respect firefighters, policemen, politicians, parents, the law, doctors, teachers... just to name a few. My rebuttal will be none of the titles listed deserve any respect. Now the people with those titles have to earn the respect. Like the old addage..."Respect is earned not a given" I am to write that politicians are the last type to be respected. I would respect a used car salesman before any politician.

Let's look at people who receive thier title because of a degree. Letters after a name can be pretty intimidating. M.D., D.O., R.N., N.R.P., blah blah blah... Many of the nurses I work with I respect but I would, in turn, like the same respect from them. We all work hard for a common goal in our profession and strive to achieve that goal everyday.

But what about the mechanic? The guy who works to fix automobiles not people. His end work can have similar consequesnces as a doctor or nurse. think of driving down the road at 75 M.P.H. The mechanic just worked on the passenger wheel assembly on your car. Something happens and your car rolls 4 times before coming to rest on it's top. You lay bleeding and broken until EMS arrives to take you to the hospital. How is that not different than a health care professional giving you the wrong medication or operating on the wrong organ.

My brother told me a story long ago when he was a garbage man. He was at a grocery store and two older women were in front of him in line. He overheard them talking about his job and the type of person it takes to do that job. He said they said, "any moron can be a garbage man..." To which he piped up, "Is that what you think? Moron? Okay lady, tell me what a PTO valve does and could you run the machine I run everyday? Because I would love to see you attempt it." The women stopped talking and went on their way. After he told me that story I had a new found respect for people in all lines of work from garbage men to doctor.

It all involves training and education but just because you have more schooling than another person doesn't make you a better person. Skills are different than that. Take me... I find it easy to learn skills. Once I have worked at it I can become quite proficient at it.

A nurse from one of the floors asked me a question the other day and interupted me half way through my answer. I got upset. I you are going to ask me a question, don't interupt me until I am finished. Just because it says BSN after your name doesn't give you the right to treat somebody that doesn't have those letters after their name. The only place those letter have any weight is in one building. Even doctors can't practice on people outside their base practice who are not their patients in South Dakota. So what I'm trying to say is, somebody with no graduate experience can be smarter than somebody that does.

And They Didn't Think It Would Matter...

With all the woo haw getting out about the stupidity of South Dakota legislators and thier "witch" hunt against the female species, we now know how far back the male leaders want our state to crawl. I'm sure the 1950's were a special time but I don't want to find out exactly how they were. The "leaders" of our government said that it wouldn't be a problem with tourism and thier decision to outlaw abortion. Well.. once again... the idiots were wrong.

Read the Rapid City Journal opinions today. As you'll see toward the bottom of that page the people who now have a distain for this state because of somebody's opinion.

Now I am not totally for abortion. I don't think that a woman can use abortion as a method of birth control and yes... that should be regulated. But the way the legislation is written now, no woman can seek an abortion within the state of South Dakota for any reason. If a woman is raped... sorry, but you'll have to live with the stain of that crime until it is 18. Incest... again sorry but in our opinions... Jesus wants you to raise your daughterneice, with the lovely third eye.

Our legislators think like we are in the 1910's. Thank god women can't vote yet. So, ladies... come election time let em know who's boss in the state.. the people.
