Welcome to Stupidville... Unfortunately I Also Live Here...

Tuesday, February 5
Here in Rapid City, most people have an opinion on subjects. If you picked up a Rapid Shitty Journal you would see how dumb people really are here. The people here think that they have the smarts of a large city. The big talk is the building of a shopping center to be named as "Rushmore Crossings". If you have ever been to the Fort Collins area in Colorado. There is a shopping complex called "Centerra". The fucking place is huge. They have outside shopping instead of the aesthetic comforts of inside mall shopping. They have a very big Dicks Sporting Goods . (Pardon the almost pun) Plus many other very fine stores to shop like Banana Republic and along that line of retailers.

The big thrill for the hillbillies here is the Cabela's hunting and fishing store being built. The city paid them in the form of a land deal here. The current Black Hills Visitor Center sits to the east of the city and sits on a large chunk of land. The city gave the land and building to them so that Cabela's would build here. No land, no business. Some opposed to the whole deal garnered enough signatures to have the issue put on a special election. The fine idiots of Rapid City voted Yes to the deal. Now every hillbilly with a Chevy pickup has a boner because Cabela's is coming.

Another issue around here is the subject of a place called The Journey Museum. The Journey shows the history of the area from the Natives who lived here up until the area was settled with whites. In conjunction with the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology they also have geologic exibits. A pretty cool place if the majority of nay sayers who think The Journey would support it.

The newest stink around here is a "Right To Life" group suing a local middle school over the groups inability to use the gym for a gathering. A few years ago, South Dakota voters killed a measure brought to the general election ballot that tried banning ALL abortions in South Dakota. The voters killed it. They tried again with provisions included in the writing of the potential law. Again, the measure was voted down. Now this stunt. This issue with the general public involves the "separation of church and state..." The group suing is a religious group with non-profit status. Some of the public in support of the group states that the middle school is public property and school officials have no right to deny. State sanctioned schools are called public for one reason, they serve the public community. They are not public property, they belong to the school district. Again... I live in Stupidville and there is nothing I can do about it!!
